Permaculture Cairns Workshop
Workshop: Relative Location
One of the most important basic principles of Permaculture design is relative location or the careful placement of elements within a system. Design is not purely about what to include on a site, but about how the different elements are connected. Interconnection is the key. It is important that elements interact positively and efficiently with each other and that they are not just randomly located. By making connections, we can save energy, create many functions for each element and recycle waste products. This workshop will give you tools that help you to develop self-sustaining systems that replicate natural ecosystems. Learn how to design for more efficient use of space, minimize your energy outputs all within a functional design framework.
When: Saturday 12th July, 2008 @ 10am
Where: 8 Bosanko Street, Manunda

Permaculture Cairns Workshop
Workshop: Energy Efficient Planning
The key to Energy Efficient Planning is the ZONE and SECTOR placement of plants, animals and structures. Every site differs in access, slope, local climate quirks and soil condition, but the principles remain the same. Come and learn how to recognize and plan for the management of wild energies that enter your property and the correct placement of elements within your system so they work efficiently. The workshop will include theory, as well as practice in schematic design and cooperative small group design tasks. The site for our workshop is Beth & Stu’s new home, so our designs will help them come up with their master plan. A great opportunity to learn, so don’t miss it!
When: Saturday 14th June, 2008 @ 3pm
Where: 10 Phillips Street, Machans Beach
